International Women’s Day Program 2015

The International Women’s Day (IWD) is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

Each year International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.

African Fashion Development and Empowerment Center (AFDEC).celebrated the 2015 International Women’s day event at a one day workshop training over 120 women from the Nigerian Union of Tailors (NUT) Lagos Nigeria Chapter at their Lagos chapter Office.
The main speaker at the event , The CEO and Curative Director of ‘Addurahh creations’ a leading brand in Lagos stirred and spoke extensively to female fashion entrepreneurs of the NUT on the topic : Creative Women reflects Excellence in All.

International Day of the Girl Child

AFDEC in partnership with ‘The Honourable Dayo Saka Fafunmi Free ICT & Fashion Center’ Ogba, Lagos. They partnered with AFDEC during the 2014 International Day of the Girl Child organised an Annual Conference in commemorating the international day of the Girl child 2014.

The one day conference themed ‘Empowering Adolescent Girls: Preventing Violence against Women’ was an expository and interactive forum where experts in the field of Gender violence shared their wealth of experience with over 30 teenage girls and young women on the issue of domestic violence, personal defence amongst many other.

AFDEC Volunteer Training Workshop

AFDEC currently has 10 active volunteers, who are commit tireless time, energy and resources to implement AFDEC’s project particularly with women on the AFDEC network. The Volunteers training workshop took place.
